Inspired by Wells
“Inspired by Wells” at the Handa Gallery, Wells Maltings
A joint exhibition by local artists Linda Pattrick and John Richter celebrating Wells-Next-The-Sea and our surrounding landscape.
4th – 16th April 2020
The gallery will be open 11-4 every day from Saturday 4th until Thursday 16th April, also opening in the evenings when there is a film or a show on in the Auditorium. The artists will be available throughout the exhibition to talk about their work.
LINDA PATTRICK
Linda Pattrick’s inspiration mainly comes from her daily walks with Labradors Jasper and Paddy, who sometimes feature in her paintings. Linda says “I am so fortunate to live in such a beautiful area and experience the daily drama of changing seasons and weather patterns. It is a constant joy to be able to express the emotions I feel about our beautiful landscape in sketch and paint.”
She paints in thick impasto with a palette knife, in either oils or acrylics in her studio at The Barn, Church Street. Her landscapes are full of life and energy, giving a sense of the mercurial nature of the salt marshes and sea.
JOHN RICHTER
The delicate, meticulous work of John Richter contrasts with Linda’s lively paintings, conveying the wonderful calm of our landscape. He works largely in oils, carefully layering and blending to create planes of light and colour.
John has an old bait shed studio down on the estuary at the East End, though he likes to paint outside in the summer. He has spent many years walking, swimming and kayaking down the creeks from Overy Staithe to Morston.
The Handa Gallery at Wells Maltings is an exciting new exhibition space for Wells-Next-The-Sea, featuring exhibitions of work from a variety of sources including artists of local and national importance. Entry is usually free and open to everyone.
